Don’t let outdated advice or misconceptions stall your publishing journey.
Discover the truth so you can get your book out into the world with confidence.
You’ve dreamed about writing a book. Maybe you’ve even started.
But the publishing world can feel overwhelming—especially with so much conflicting advice out there.
When I set out to publish my first novel, I quickly realized many of the “truths” I’d been told about writing, publishing, and selling books… were actually myths.
Myth-busting these beliefs saved me time, money, and frustration—and helped me focus on what really mattered.
Now, I’m sharing those lessons with you.

Roxanne Bocyck has always loved writing and creativity. She began her career as a feature writer for two weekly newspapers in her hometown of Phoenix, NY. At the age of 44, she attended Syracuse University as a non-traditional student, earning her Bachelor of Arts Degree, Magna Cum Laude, in writing and communications while raising her family and working as a school bus driver. She was honored to be part of SU’s Writer’s Distinction Program.
Her debut novel, Catherine’s Dream: A Story of Spirit and Courage, was inspired by her grandmother’s immigration journey from Poland to America in 1921. The book was celebrated for its historical depth and uplifting message and became a CNY Book Awards Finalist.
Today, Roxanne helps aspiring and newly published authors navigate the publishing world, promote their books, and build supportive writing communities. She is passionate about helping others turn their dream of becoming a published author into reality.
Inside, you’ll discover how to:
• The myth about “perfect timing” that keeps aspiring authors from ever starting.
• The truth about publishers vs. self-publishing (and what’s right for you).
• Why your book idea matters more than you think—and how to position it for readers.
• What really sells books (hint: it’s not just “write it and they will come”).
…and more real-world insights I wish I had known before I published my first book.
